Cox Farms Fall Festival Guide: Fall Day trip from DC

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. The crisp cold air, sweaters and boots, apple cider donuts, pumpkin patches, apple picking, Halloween-all of it!

Fall is the start of all the fun Autumn festivals, and if you live in the Washington DC area, one of the most fun Fall festivals is at Cox Farms in Centreville Virginia.

Cox Farm Fall Festival Tickets


Cox Farms is less than an hour’s drive from the Washington DC area. Parking is completely free, and I suggest getting here early to make the most of your day.

  • When: September 14 through November 5, 2024
  • Hours: September and October 10am-6pm, November 10am-5pm. Festival Market 10am-6pm Sept 14 – Oct 31, Nov 1 – 5 10am-5pm.
  • Ticket prices: Ticket Prices vary by day from $10-$25
  • Tickets can be purchased online here
  • Under 2 FREE
  • Location: 15621 Braddock Rd, Centreville, VA 20120.
  • Porta-Potties and diaper changing stations throughout the farm.
  • Accessibility: The farm terrain in most areas is grass, gravel or packed dirt. There are wheelchair-accessible parking and portable toilets. The farm will do everything possible to accommodate mobility and other challenges. Please contact the farm in advance to discuss your requirements.

Things to do at Cox Farms Fall Festival 


Cox Farms is one of the most fun fall festivals in Northern Virginia, with a lot of activities for everyone. When you think of Fall, hayrides, corn mazes, and pumpkin patches come to mind. 

Here at Cox Farms fall festival, you can look forward to Giant themed slides, playgrounds, a fun corn maze, and lots of tractors and farm animals! there’s something for everyone, and you’ll never be bored.

Hayride

One thing not to miss here is their famous Hayrides. This 20-minute ride takes you on an adventure around the farm with surprises around every bend. It’s one of the most fun hayrides for all ages!

Giant Slides 

In addition to the hayrides and corn mazes, one of the best things about Cox Farms Fall Festival are the giant-themed slides

These giant slides are so much fun, and there’s a different theme throughout the farm. 

There’s a castle slide, a volcano, a fire truck, a barn, a treetop slide, and the tallest one yet, the Dino slide! They are so much fun, and the kids (and adults) can spend hours going down them all!

Fun Play areas 

You can also find lots of fun little play areas spread throughout the farm, including the kiddie zone, which is an enclosed play area with a single entry/exit point, which is perfect for the littlest ones. 

There are lots of fun activities including bubbles, musical instruments, a small slide, and more!

You can easily spend the whole day here with all the fun things to do at Cox Farms. It’s the perfect weekend trip for the whole family!

Cornundrum Corn Maze 

Cox Farms features the Cornundrum corn maze. This maze is perfect for all ages and features lots of fun and silly things along the way.

This winding maze features a fun Vortex walkthrough, pirates, tunnels, and other fun surprises along the way.

Other fun activities at Cox Farms 


 There are so many other fun activities at Cox Farms. Here are just a few of them:

  • See the farms collection of tractors from the past century at the Tractor Museum
  • The Imaginature forest trail is an interactive walk thru experience that’s part nature walk, and part fairy-tale.
  • The Foam Stonehenge is modeled after the real thing and it’s pretty amazing!
  • There’s also a goat village, for those wanting to get up close and personal to these cute little farm animals. For $1.00, you can even feed the goats! It’s so much fun for the little ones.
  • Rope Swings, Milking demo, Farm chores, fun tunnels, panning for gems, and more!

Fields of Fears

For older kids and adults, Cox Farms also features Fields of Fear haunted nighttime experiences on Friday and Saturday nights.

This haunted experience features the Dark Side Hayride, The Forest: Back 40, Cornightmare and the Fairgrounds, entertainment, and more! 

When: Sept. 24 – Nov. 6 (plus Sundays Oct. 10 + 31) 7:30-11 p.m. (last entry 10 p.m.) Ticket prices: from $20-$35 purchase tickets here.

What to eat at Cox Farms


What draws me to any Fall Festival is the food! Cox Farms is worth the visit just for their Apple Cider Donuts! These donuts are made fresh at the farm, and they’re amazing!

You can indulge in some Caramel apples, kettle corn, and apple cider. There is an apple cider station at Cox Farms; you can sample as much as you like. 

There are also many food stalls on the farm, serving all kinds of food. You can find hotdogs, burgers, nachos, and barbecues! 

You can even pack your own food and enjoy a picnic at one of the many picnic tables around the farm.

Cox Farm Festival Market

Before you leave for the day, make sure to visit the Cox Farms festival marketplace.

There are many fun fall things you can pick up here to complete your fall decors, such as pumpkins, mums, and other fun fall knick-knacks.

You can also pick up some apple pie, caramel apples, and apple cider donuts to bring home. It’s the best part about visiting any fall festival!
