A weekend visit to some of Belgiums Christmas Markets
The best thing about being in Europe during the winter are the Christmas Markets, and all the amazing food!
We’ve been to a few Christmas markets in Belgium, and they are pretty similar to the ones in Germany, except for the French food.
Instead of Gluhwein, they serve Vin Chaud, which is their version of hot mulled wine, but tastes just as amazing!
We had such an amazing time visiting the Christmas Markets in Belgium.
On the blog, I will share a few that we visited in Brussels, Liege, and Mons. Most Christmas Markets in Belgium usually starts from about the last week of November, up until the first week of January.

BOOK A TOUR:
Brussels Winter Wonders
One of the most spectacular Christmas markets, (and probably the most visited) in Belgium is the Brussels Winter Wonders.
The Brussels Winter Wonders event takes place at the Grand-Place in Brussels, the Place de la Monnaie, the Place Sainte-Catherine and the Marché aux Poissons.
This Christmas Market in Brussels features more than 200 chalets and fairground attractions such as:
- A larger than life Ferris wheel
- Unique Merry-go-rounds
- Cultural Activities
- A covered ice rink
- Amazing foods and shops
- A giant Christmas tree complete with a sound and light show on the Grand-Place!
- When: November 26, 2021 to January 2, 2022
- Parking: I suggest taking the train into Bruxelles Centrale and walk from there. Otherwise we usually park at Parking Bruxelles ( Rue de l’Ecuyer 11), or at the Grand Place garage (Rue du Marché Aux Herbes 104, 1000). Make sure to arrive early or visit on a weekday!
- Location: Grand Place, Place de la Monnaie, Place Sainte Catherine, Marché aux Poissons

The Brussels Winter Wonders Christmas Market was one of our favorite markets in Belgium.
The highlight was of course the food, with many stalls serving some delicious food, and hot Vin Chaud to keep you warm!
My absolute favorite dish was the roasted salmon, which was cooked on an open fire, and served on a delicious roll.
You can even find some Reibekuchen (German potato pancakes), but they’re not as yummy as the ones in Germany!
The best part about Christmas Markets is not only the food and wine, but the shopping of course.
Make sure to find that one of a kind souvenir or present at one of the many chalets here.
You can also pick up a fun holiday ornament to add to your collection, some are quite unique!
Of course the best part about a Christmas Market are all the fun things to do for the whole family.
At the Brussels Winter Wonders, you will find some of the most unique carousels, a larger than life Ferris wheel, and an awesome light show at Grand Place.
There’s also a fun light show at Saint-Catherine church, which was quite amazing!
