Best Easter Events in the DC area 2024
One of the best things to look forward to during the spring is the Easter egg hunt activities for kids in the DC area. Luckily there are so many family-friendly Easter events in Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland.
On the blog, I will share some of the best Easter events in the DC area that you can look forward to in 2024. Most of these Easter egg hunt events near DC sell out quickly, so I recommend reserving tickets ahead of time.

Easter egg hunts in DC
White House Easter egg Roll
One of the best Easter events in the DC area to look forward to in the spring is the White House Easter Egg Roll which is held on the South Lawn of the White House.
The Easter egg roll is one of the oldest annual events in White House history, and also includes storytime, games, live entertainment, and more!
To attend this coveted event, you would need to apply through an online lottery here. For 2024, the Easter Egg Roll will take place on April 1st and the lottery takes place from Feb. 26 – March 4, 2024.
The event is FREE, and the lottery randomly chooses who will attend the Easter Egg roll and will be notified via email.
Eggstravaganza! (SOLD OUT)
Another fun Easter egg hunt in DC is the Eggstravaganza event egg hunt and egg roll on the South Lawn at Tudor Place. This Easter event in DC includes crafts and a photo with the Easter Bunny.
Each child must bring a basket, hard-boiled egg, and spoon to participate. The egg hunt begins at 10:30AM and the egg roll begins at 10:45AM.

Easter Monday at the Zoo (TBA)
Another fun Easter activity in DC for families is the Easter Monday at the Zoo event.
This family-friendly Easter activity at the Smithsonian Zoo features an Easter Egg hunt with prizes, animal demonstrations, such as tortoise & tiger feedings, elephant demonstrations, live entertainment, and a chance to meet Panda Pal.

Easter Events in Northern Virginia
Easter Egg Hunt at Great Country Farms
The Easter Egg Hunt at Great Country Farms is another one of the best Easter events in the DC area. Not only can you go egg hunting, but you can also enjoy other farm activities which include wagon rides, marshmallow roasting, and more
Kids 10 years and younger are given an egg hunt ticket and bucket to collect plastic eggs with treats inside.
There are separate areas for kids under 4 where adults can assist. You can also choose to keep the plastic eggs or leave them in the bin to recycle them for next year’s use.

Rippon Lodge Easter Egg Trail
Another fun Easter Event for kids in the DC area is the activity trail at Rippon Lodge Easter egg Trail.
Look for hidden objects, do physical tasks, tell a joke, and more as you walk to receive your eggs. Make sure to bring your basket.

Underwater Easter Egg Hunt
Enjoy an underwater egg hunt at the Reston Community Center Pools. Some eggs will be floating on the water while some will sink for the more adventurous swimmers. A parent/adult is required to accompany each non-swimmer in the water and to participate in the activity. There are limited amounts of life jackets, so bring your own if you have one.

Potomac Overlook Easter Egg Hunt
Go on an egg hunt adventure at the Potomac Overlook Regional Park on a scavenger hunt in search of wooden eggs.
Pick up your egg hunt sheet at the nature center, look for the eggs, and then return it for a prize!

Go on an Easter Egg hunt along the Bunny Trail at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. Pick up an Easter Egg Fun Find Sheet to keep track of which eggs you find along the trail and turn them in for goodie bags full of Easter Eggs.

Flashlight Egg Hunt (SOLD OUT)
Enjoy an evening Flashlight Easter egg hunt at Glyndon Park in Vienna VA. There will be games and music, plus photo ops with the Easter bunny so bring your own camera and basket.
- When: March 22, 2024 6pm & 8pm
- Tickets: Cost is $5 per family member; no charge for children ages 12 months and younger. Children under the age of 5 can arrive early for an egg hunt at 6 p.m., and the flashlight egg hunt begins at 8 p.m. Register online here.

Tulip Picking
Tulips are synonymous with the Easter season, and one of the best places to pick your own tulips is at the Festival of Spring tulip event at Burnside Farms. This is a fun Easter activity to do with the kids near DC.
Your admission ticket includes 5 free tulips for adults and 3 for child tickets. You can purchase more tulips for an additional $1 per stem (an extra $1 for the bulb), and $1 for 2 daffodils.
This fun spring event also includes fun things to do for kids, including a jump pad, face painting, inflatable slides, wagon rides, and more.

Easter egg hunts in Maryland
Bunnyland at Butlers Orchard
Another fun Easter egg hunt event near DC is Bunnyland at Butlers Orchard.
This fun Easter event includes a photo-op with the Country Bunny, goodie baskets for kids under 12, and other farm activities.
There will also be additional paid activities such as face painting, and pony rides which cost $6 from 10:30-4:30pm.

Egg Hunts Galore
Clark’s Elioak Farm is another fun place for an Easter egg hunt near DC. There will be egg hunts for different age groups throughout the day, and eggs will be turned in for a goodie bag.
Egg hunt times are March 23-31, 2024 (10 AM, 10:30, 11 AM, 11:30, 12 noon, 12:30, 1 PM, 1:30, 2 PM, 2:30, 3 PM, 3:30, 4 PM, 4:30 and 5 PM)
On weekdays the hunts will be at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 2:30 and 3:30. Admission includes the egg hunt, petting farm, rides and play areas.

Easter Bunny Meet & Greet
Another fun Easter event in the DC area to look forward to is the Easter Bunny Meet & Greet event at the Gaylord National Resort at the National Harbor in MD.
You can take photos with the Easter Bunny Saturdays and Sundays, March 11 – 31, 2024 at the resort’s lobby every 30 minutes from 11am-1pm. This is a FREE event so bring your cameras!
There are many other fun spring events to look forward to at the Resort as well, like the Springtime Light Stage show, a spring-a-long Scavenger Hunt, and more!
